Jane Heffey was into her second trimester of pregnancy when she began to experience associated bleeding. It turned out she had a malignant tumor on her cervix and the growing baby inside applied pressure, causing the bleeding. Tests showed a cancer on the move, so she had chemotherapy while pregnant. Her little girl was born early but totally healthy. It turns out the pregnancy saved Jane’s life. Had the growing baby not caused the bleeding, she wouldn’t have known about the cancer as early as she did. And the result probably would have been much different. Jane used to be a career woman, but now being a mom is her priority. Even on the days at the dinner table when the peas are flying and the kids are crying, she’s glad to be a mom.
