Few Pregnancies Really Unwanted

Bradley Mattes   |   November 02, 2012

New research out of Yale is shedding new light on unexpected pregnancies. They found out about half of youth in their late teens and early twenties who get pregnant are actually looking forward to parenthood. When they subtract those who aren’t sure how they feel, only a third of females and less than a quarter of males see the pregnancy as “unwanted.” We shouldn’t be surprised. Throughout history, it was considered normal and healthy for people in this age bracket to get married and have kids. It’s only during these last decades it’s frowned upon by many in society. I believe God was speaking the truth when he said children are a blessing. Of course children should come after marriage, but maybe society should rethink its stigma against young people getting married and having kids.
