Taras, a pastor in Ukraine, is a dear friend whose hobby is photography. Recently, he sent me fall pictures he’d taken. As I watched the beautiful colors come alive on my computer screen, I was reminded how God provides us with incredible beauty even as the leaves fall off the trees and die. In this process of death in nature, God’s creation is praised and glorified. In the same way, as we humans go through the dying process, God often also provides us with incredible beauty. It’s demonstrated through acts of mercy and kindness. It’s visible in torn relationships healed; God is glorified as those who’re dying testify to the wonder and glory of Jesus our savior. And just as fall isn’t the end in nature, the death of a Christian is just entering into another season.
