Children Banned from Political Convention

Bradley Mattes   |   September 04, 2012

The Democrat Party is being accused of discrimination against mothers at its national convention. The accusations are coming from its own ranks like feminist Gloria Steinem, the National Organization of Women and mothers themselves. Convention leaders are barring women delegates from bringing small children to the convention floor unless they have credentials. Some of these women are breastfeeding their babies. Critics, say when the moms apply for credentials, they’re being routinely denied. Susan Shannon from California, who planned to attend with her young daughter, said a whole group of women were being “disenfranchised.” Steinem said the Democrat Party is alienating women by not even offering child care. Gee, I guess this whole “war on women” rhetoric cuts both ways.
