Pat Robertson’s latest comment about adoption has rightly generated controversy. He expressed sympathy for men who don’t want to marry or date women who’ve adopted children internationally. He said you never know what you’re going to get, and they could grow up “weird.” When I first heard his words, I was so angered I had to pace the floor. I want to say this respectfully but with passion, Joseph agreed to adopt Jesus. And Jesus wasn’t just from another country—he was from out of this world! James 1:27 calls on us to “look after orphans and widows in their distress.” What part of Scripture is Mr. Robertson reading? I feel compelled by the Holy Spirit to speak out against comments that are not from the Lord. International adoption is fulfilling God’s will. God bless those who are doing it.
