Sometimes political allies have a falling out. In this case a labor union in Oregon forced the local Planned Parenthood to cancel a major fundraising event. Staff at the abortion facility voted to join the Service Employees Union, much to the chagrin of their boss. Contract negotiations were lagging, so the union planned to picket the ritzy fundraising dinner. As a result, Oregon’s pro-abortion governor cancelled plans to attend and the entire event was called off. An interesting twist is the husband of Planned Parenthood’s president, Cecile Richards, is a top attorney for the union, which has given millions of dollars to Planned Parenthood’s partner group called America Votes. Sadly, often unionized labor and the abortion industry go hand-in-hand. But this time, I’m happy to say, things didn’t work out.
