Guinea Pigs and Babies

Bradley Mattes   |   May 17, 2012

The Council of the District of Columbia passed the Wildlife Protection Act. It regulates ways in which animal control people treat skunks and raccoons so the animals won’’t suffer discomfort, stress or physical harm. In Congress a bill’’s been introduced to protect DC’’s unborn babies who’’ll feel pain during abortion. But DC Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton said Congress was using residents as “guinea pigs to showcase their pet political issues.” This is really ironic, isn’’t it? If a DC police officer saw a man using forceps to twist the legs off a guinea pig, he’’d be charged with a felony, face five years in prison and a huge fine. But this is what happens to an unborn baby during a D and E abortion. We need to give babies at least the same rights as animals.
