Diane Aulger was two weeks from delivering her baby girl, but Mark, her husband, couldn’t wait. He had only days to live. After surgery for colon cancer and six months of chemotherapy, Mark and Diane thought he had beaten the disease. But complications from the chemo scarred and thickened his lungs. It was a fatal condition. Mark’s dying wish was to see his daughter. The doctors suggested Diane be induced and she readily agreed. As she delivered Savannah, Mark was lying in a bed next to hers. When his daughter was placed in his arms, he cried. He held Savannah for nearly an hour. They were precious minutes because Mark soon grew very weak and died five days later. But Diane will make sure Savannah knows how much her daddy loved her.
